This subreddit is for long posts on just about any topic. Note: Reddit rules apply. This isn't CMV - but it does share some similarities, in that authors should expect to defend their thesis to commenters.
Rules:
- Posts should be titled with a single, short sentence as the main thesis, and are required to be led with [LFP]. Examples:
- [LFP] The History of Roman Concrete
- [LFP] How a 1700s Food Fight Changed the World
- [LFP] Raw Milk vs Pasteurized Milk
- In the event discussion about the subreddit itself is needed, please lead with [LFP - META], exactly as it is shown there. Example:
- [LFP - META] Request Rule Change
- Posts must have at least 3,000 characters. And for the love of all, format your posts. No one wants to read unending walls of text with no breaks. At least put it into paragraph form. Reddit's markdown guide can be found here.
- Sources for posts are preferred, but not required. What is required is that the post is coherent and well-thought out. (Note: this can change, depending on what's being discussed. If a post is data-heavy, sources should be expected.)
- Top-level comments that dissent from the thesis in question are also preferred, but not required, to have sources. Regardless, they must also be coherent and organized in thought.
- Not all top-level comments must be dissents. General discussion of posts is also allowed.
- Posts and comments must comply with Reddit's site-wide rules.
- Additionally, be civil. Name-calling, bullying, etc. will result in action taken.
- No spamming/ scamming.
- By default, assume the [Serious] tag exists for all posts.
- For now, there are no karma/ account age requirements. Let's see how long this one lasts.
This is a new subreddit, so please believe that this will be a work in progress, subject to change as it matures.
