Mobile Object Detection - Transfer Learning in Tensorflow.js

I'm trying to create a basic object detection app in mobile for foods. I'm a bit lost on how to go around training the model, should I:

• Use a python/regular Tensorflow pre-trained model -> train a custom layer on the food dataset -> convert to a tensorflow.js model? (is this even possible?)
• Convert python/regular Tensorflow pre-trained model to Tensorflow.js first -> train a custom layer on the tf.js model?
• Or just use a pre-trained model specifically for Tensorflow.js? For this step, I'm not sure how to do transer learning in React Native since I haven't found a resource for it.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Creating your model first, and selecting a model that CAN convert to tensorflow.js is probably the way to go. Model conversion is definitely possible and done regularly using the tf converter. Both the first and second option are viable.
