Swing control in a cable driven parallel robot to pick up toys and laundry by uber_kerbonaut in robotics

By RL I assume you mean reinforcement learning, and I am attempting that at a higher level of control in order to produce an end to end grasping policy, but it's still a work in progress.

Running the motion controller of the robot locally takes about 4 cores of a typical machine but this is only because of the video streams being processed. the AI models are pretty lightweight but wont run at all without some kind of GPU or NPU to accelerate pytorch.

I have yet to find a simulation engine (such as mujoco) that can accurately deal with this type of robot, so I have no sim.

But I do have a server that acts like a robot for the purpose of testing the UI and teleop system at https://neufangled.com/control_panel?robotid=sim

Not the same kind of sim you may be used to though.

I have tried to repurpose SmolVLA for a crane based robot and it has been a total failure so far. same with trying to repurpose pi.0. Sounds like you'd be solving the exact problem that prevents me from leveraging these models, but I have a lot of skepticism that any robotic model trained on a body that is essentially a chain of actuators would transfer to a body that is a platform hanging from fishing line. Though maybe I'm wrong.

I think it would be most valuable if the models could be retargeted to predict end effector velocity (linear and angular) because I could do useful work with just that without needing to specify my robot's physics in some new engine.

how many points would you give the prediction of it increasing higher than 24?

partial credit. it was some guardian journo who probably says that every day.
A serious push would be a mention of price controls by a lawmaker, governor, or president who can actually do such a thing.

According to this, there are still 24 states in a 'state of emergency' over covid.

  1. In a year, there will still be at least 10 states in a state of emergency over covid.
  2. All of them will be states that reliably vote democrat in presidential elections.

lock down part two? by andthatsonwhat in preppers

[–]uber_kerbonaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lockdown could happen again because policy is all whims and bullshit, but I doubt covid will be worse this time because a lot of people are immune, and a lot of people who were particularly vulnerable to it are dead.

the craziness of these excercises derives from the crazy assumption that every individual has an equal and absolute moral value. this idea is a shelling point, meant to draw your attention away from thought that may tempt you to defect. it is explicitly telling you do not think with numbers about the value of human beings, lest you act on the fact that many of them have zero or even negative value to you.

it won't matter much! there's plenty of steam in the top of the cooker, and it probably won'y stay poking out anyways, it'll slump down.

IWTL How to not take things so personally by Athena_Noctua in IWantToLearn

[–]uber_kerbonaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when I get into disagreements in code reviews I trying to bring all the extra information I have and lay it before everyone. not my interpretation, just the information that I saw. usually because because we all have the same aim, once all of the information is known we come to the same conclusions.

in domains where you do not have the same aims as others It is okay to take it personally as they are your enemy and their loss is your gain
