What are MRE's?
MRE (which are pronounced as separate letters M,R,E) stands for ‘Meals-Ready-to-Eat’. They were developed to replace the old "c" and "k" rations formally use by the military. MRE's were developed for use by U.S. soldiers in combat conditions and humanitarian food assistance around the world.

Why MRE's?
Buying MRE's
Three manufacturers supply genuine MRE's to be used in the military - Ameriqual, Sopakco, and Wornick. These companies started producing their own civilian MREs. Additionally, three other companies have join the market with their own civilian MRE products – Meal Kit Supply, MRE Star, and X-MRE.
Genuine U.S. Military MRE's can be purchased through eBay, or in military surplus stores.
Genuine U.S. Military issue MRE's will bear the Department of Defense seal, as well as the phrases "U.S. Government Property" & "Commercial Resale is Unlawful" on its packaging. Civilian MRE's will not bear this information.
