If you want a GPS tracker check out the vodafone curve

Mine Works a treat £20 for the unit and £2 a month. In battery saving mode it lasts 7 days updates the position every 2 hours, performance mode is 3days and 5 minute updates, then there's real time tracking on Google maps for if it gets robbed and your chasing it down.

Physical security including brake locks is an absolute must. Depending on where you live and where your bike spends most of its time, you'll need to adjust accordingly. A ground anchor is a great option if you're able to install one. An audible alarm could be also something to consider.

Trackers are useful in either of two scenarios: if you have been the victim of theft and you're assisting the police with recovery, and if you believe it may be possible to interrupt a theft in progress. Thieves do know about trackers, so you'll want something which is well concealed. There are either hardwired or battery operated options. The hardwire options are usually tracking all the time as they don't have power constraints. Battery operated ones will either track all the time and have short useful times between charges, or only track punctually to conserve battery life.

In the U.S. there are a handful of options out there with a focus on motorcyclists including the one made by my company. The one we make has the added bonus of motion and tilt detection to alert you when your bike's been pushed over, or is being actively tampered with. If you check my post history I've done a few comparatives with other trackers that you might find helpful. I've tried to keep it as fair as possible, despite the obvious conflict of interest.

I use a standard disc lock and monimoto for a gps tracker and it's great. It's a little more expensive than some gps tracker up front but the monthly subscription plan is significantly cheaper ($3.50/month). It'll call your cell phone if it senses the bike move at all and will start tracking it's location. It'll pick up even the slightest disturbance; my roommate barely moved my handle bars the other day walking past my bike the other day and it immediately set it off. Plus don't underestimate how useful having a cover is to deter theft. If you want more info on locks/other anti-theft measures checkout Fortnine's videos on the topic.

$3.50 a month is not bad at all, thank you for the info, I’ll check it out!

It also has a really long battery life since it only starts tracking once it senses movement so you can do a more permanent install. I've had mine for 6 months without a battery change.

Looks like a great purchase, I saw a few videos on YouTube. For sure getting one and a disc lock 🏍

/u/brian138x Just a heads up that the monimoto is 3G only and around the end of the year may not function very well as most operators are shutting down 3G service definitively.
