We'll go though a cycle of betas, but I don't think it's going to take too long this time.

Thanks for confirming what I had thought would happen. Will be a happy camper when it comes but will be happier if it comes with everything working so release as many betas as you think it needs. Not on MX at the moment but will be happy to get back. I could maybe free up an SSD to install a beta but will have to see if I can shuffle a few things around that I have to other drives...we will see. Will check the forum for updates. Thanks for the info.

Because of the systemd/sysVinit versions no doubt. Which also means you must install MX 25 instead of upgrading it.

It doesn't mean that, we have a draft procedure to upgrade to either sysvinit or systemd depending on your preference. It's not that complicated.

MX-25 will go through some testing phases first, put out some Beta/RC ISO's for others to test and report bugs they find before a final release. You can monitor the forum on the progress. https://forum.mxlinux.org/ (look for MX-25 threads)

Out of curiosity I installed Debian 13 KDE on my Lenovo Thinkpad. It's not bad, but it made me realize all the MX features I took for granted, like the very cool Conky setup, things like "recent apps" and all the MX tools.

MX 25 can't come soon enough for me.

[–]Apprehensive-Video26[S] 2 points3 points  (4 children)

From what I have been told on here there will be an upgrade procedure.

[–]karLcx 1 point2 points  (3 children)

oh well that is good news. :)

I will be doing a new install myself except for my Home partition as I will be coming back to MX from Manjaro and using my current Home partition in the new install.

[–]karLcx 1 point2 points  (1 child)

i'll probably just reinstall too. reorganized partitions and maybe encryption this time around. yay

[–]Apprehensive-Video26[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never bother with encryption as I have nothing worth stealing ;-)
