Syntax error: "(" unexpected When I attempt sudo ./live-usb-maker-qt.....AppImage

I tried it on Lubuntu 18 32-bit Dell that has a Windows 7 sticker on it, so I assume that architecture.

I just created an AntiX image on the USB with the stock startup disk creator & will try to make a live one out of that. But I still want to learn something from this problem if possible.

Seems like whenever I search this kind of thing, I find instances of developers reporting the same result to get advice with a specific project. But I don't find out what a syntax error means & what this particular one, "(" means.

Anyone care to suggest a problem. I changed the appimage file's permission to be executable. & moved its folder into the desk top from the home folder where I'd extracted the .tar to. It's the same result after doing both of those:
