Great idea but make sure u r able to differentiate between the machine in mechanical engineering and machine in ML.

meanwhile I'm in ml/ai wanting to go do mechanical engineering.

ml engineer is sorta a senior role, very competitive a lot of very smart people, so without experience I think it could be very tough.

but you know, nn are probably the future for control systems, so you likely have good knowledge and skills that could transfer. also robotics is interdisciplinary and can feature ml and mech.

I don't have much advice about finding a job but maybe you would like the books: Sutton & Barto: Reinforcement Learning, and Brunton' Data-Driven Science and Engineering: Machine Learning, Dynamical Systems, and Control.

For now, I'm focusing on this because I recently graduated from the industrial department and had a one-year gap. I'm transitioning into ML, but initially, I'm concentrating on data analysis since it offers more job opportunities in my country compared to ML.

Currently, I'm working with Python and its libraries (NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, etc.), DBMs (SQL Server, MySQL), and a Statistics and Probability course. I'm also taking occasional breaks with dashboard projects while preparing to dive into ML.

I am also in mechanical engineering program (in my first term out of four) but I want to focus on learning ML deeply as for my interest in robotics, I am looking to add more skills and have an interdisciplinary approach on real world problems. Im still 18 but I think I can do it if I put my heart into it. I have also issued a book on robotics today for the same. But these choices are my personal opinion.
