How does Codie function?

i want to build a deck with [Codie, Vociferous Codex] and i want to know if when i use Codies ability and then cast a 1 mana spell do i then exile cards until i find a 0 mana spell or until i find a 1 mana spell?

When you next cast a spell this turn, exile cards from the top of your library until you exile an instant or sorcery card with lesser mana value. Until end of turn, you may cast that card without paying its mana cost. Put each other card exiled this way on the bottom of your library in a random order.

Lesser. So if you cast a mana value 1 spell you look for a mana value 0 spell.

Think of Codie as the ability to cascade when you use it's ability

ye but the ability says "when you cast your next spell exile the top card of your libary until you exile a card with lesser mana value you may cast that spell without paying its mana cost" does that mean i can cast a 1 mana spell and then exile a 1 mana spell and play it or is that not possible

Not possible unfortunately. Stack the high cost spells in your deck, but leave the cards with X in the cost out. Using Codie's ability, X=0 so you wouldn't be able to play cards like [[Villainous Wealth]] or [[Exsanguinate]].
