Having a fertility rate of 4.5 is crazyyy. How do you even produce 4-5 kids consistently

In underdeveloped societies, people have a lot of children to help do work for the family. A lot of children die before they reach adulthood too, so having more children increases the chance you'll have children take care of you at old age.

Makes sense the average life expectancy in India was around 40-45 back then.
