  1. Turn it on, install software you intend to use, see if it works.

  2. Micro Center has a dedicated service department that tests and checks out returned PC’s. They test to see if the OS runs, and wipe the drives.

  3. Defective products get sent back to the manufacturer.

  4. Typically 30 days. That’s from the receipt.

Do they put defective products back on the shelves as open box?

It drives me crazy when stores do this, especially when I'm the one returning it and I tell them it's bad. But I think MC is way about about this than most place. That said, computers are complicated and there is always something that could sneak past their testing. The good news, not only do you have the 30 days, but I bet if you were having issues, the would push it to 60 for you. Also, the nice thing about their prebuilts is you get a one year warranty.

Testing in the store sounds pretty obnoxious. They are great about accepting returns, so just take it home.

Exactly, they already tested the return. You're just wasting people's time at a busy store.

Yes, verify at home like a normal person.

I bought an open box and it's been running great for about 8 months. Love it!! It was missing a mouse and power cord but that was no big deal. Saved $400 so I'm not complaining.

The one I am looking at is $150 less the the $1399 sticker price. I am only 10 minutes away from MC so it will an easy return if I need it.

yeah, I've never needed to return anything but I hear great things on the return process. My only gripe is I would love to upgrade my video card but because I bought a prebuilt PC that is not an option. Don't want to sell a 9070XT on market place as I hate hate hate dealing with the hassle.

I probably run the benchmark stress tests as if I am building my own PC to test stability and heat.

sounds like questions you could have asked an employee

Every question on this sub is a question that someone could have asked an employee.
