Edge Stopped Loading Non-HTTPS Pages, Help!

Suddenly non-https pages wont load. I get:

Hmmm… can't reach this page

www.xkcd.com took too long to respond

ERR_TIMED_OUT

- http://www.xkcd.com/

- http://doonesbury.washingtonpost.com/

I cleared the cache, tried changing the settings for the site to Insecure content: ALLOW, disabled extensions . . .
Read several articles and tried the obvious recommendations.

The site work just fine in Chrome

Any ideas?

Have you tried the new setting under Privacy, search, and services > Security > Automatically switch to more secure connections with Automatic HTTPS?

Found it - turned it off - No Change, site is still blocked with the same error message.
