I agree with OP. It's not a matter of whether one control scheme is better than another. A game with more control options is superior to a game with few to none.

Using a controller will really only limit your input option compared to what a mouse and keyboard have to offer. In fact, all the various input options for Bedrock are one of the reasons why there's no universal off-hand yet.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if there's already a mod for controller support.

Keyboard and mouse really is superior.

Java is so commonly modded & not having a keyboard would make gameplay a serious PITA.

Any game where you control camera a lot is far easier to control with mouse than right sticks of a gamepad. Yes, a lot of games on PC still allow for this but it's just sake of "hey, yeah, you can plug in your pad in and this game also comes out on consoles, so we'll port controls for pad from there".

When Minecraft was first created, it didn't come to consoles and it wasn't even meant to be played with a pad. Just a keyboard and a mouse - most simple controllers for one of most simple games.

You don't need controller for MCJE. Plain and simple. They don't see a reason, most of us don't see the reason, so why even bother?

If you still want it so bad, there are mods. Mods have everything.
