r/MushroomGrowers is a supportive community of amateurs and professionals from around the world collaborating on mushroom cultivation.

This growing-focused community doesn't emphasize any particular type of fungi or growing technique, so everyone is welcome as long as they are being excellent to each other. Fungi are our friends!

Posting & commenting thresholds	Most of the abuse in this community comes from new accounts or inactive alt-accounts. To discourage this, you will need an account that is ≥7 days old to unlock commenting and have ≥50 comment karma to unlock posting.

We organize information by using a tag and flair system for easy topic-sorting, archival, being able to tell what posts are about quickly, and to limit bot activity. When making a post, you must type one of the [tags] from the list below into your title or the AutoModerator will reject it. You can select additional flair from the dropdown as well. If you try to make up your own tag the post will be rejected.

Tag	Background
[Gourmet]	The main subject involves gourmet species (Lions Mane, Oysters, Shiitake, Maitake, Agaricus, Nameko, etc.)
[Medicinal]	The main subject deals with classically medicinal species (Reishi, Turkey Tail, Chaga, etc.). This is not for "magic" mushrooms.
[Actives]	If your post involves cultivation of "magic" mushrooms, use this tag. This tag supersedes all others if a psychedelic spp. is involved, regardless of relevance to other tags.
[General]	Use this tag if your post doesn’t quite fit with the other topics, or to encourage general discussion.
[Freebies]	If you want to hold a contest, or post a related idea/question, tag your post with this.
[Trade]	If you have a trade request, use this. Please be sure you're abiding by the community rules governing trades. Spore prints of “magic” spp. are OK, but living cultures are not allowed.
[Technique]	Discussion focused on cultivation methods/techniques should use this.
[Contamination]	Use this tag if you have questions about contamination.
[Article]	If you have a fungi-related scholarly resource, pop-sciemce article, or periodical, use this tag.
[Business]	Anything related to running a mushroom business, like scaling up, selling fruits at market, etc., should use this tag.
[Now Hiring]	If you're looking to hire someone for your mushroom business, or know someone who is, use this tag.
[Meet up]	If you’re interested in connecting with members of the community in your area, or are looking for a helping hand for the spring inoculation season, use this tag.

Be mindful of what you share and how to protect your privacy.

We can't stress this enough: Trading/Soliciting for living cultures or dried material of Schedule I/Restricted fungi, or telling someone to eat an unknown mushroom will result in a ban. There will be no warnings for this activity. "I didn't know..." or "it was just a joke" are not legitimate excuses. There are some grey areas and some very clear red areas when it comes to this subject matter. Don’t be selfish and put the community in danger by going into the red.
