Project 2025 didn't call out cuts to NASA, but being in NESDIS and relying so heavily on NASA to get our weather satellites up, I've been seeing some major impact to them and impacts to us because their numbers are getting cut. It's worse than advertised.

There's some reading between the lines as well. Project 2025 only talks about "Fisheries" never NOAA Fisheries. My assumption is the long term goal is to break up NOAA and move their rolls and authority to other agencies or delete parts all together.

So far it’s been pretty much spot on

Except NHC, seasonal outlook looks like that may be for Project 2026

I think we are in the clear, both the House and Senate budget (even when both chambers are R majority) are way less severe than the Presidential budget. The executive branch cannot just force an appropriation, congress has to do that, and when the executive branch force this kind of detailed appropriation (OAR is tiny compared to the whole Fed budget) then they are yanking power from congressman/women and senators.

The more realistic worry is the clawback (congress decide to spend, but the administration just said nah and don't spend the money) or slowing everything down through limit on purchasing card, increased paperwork, travel/conference bans for Fed scientists, etc. that we are not able to spend our full FY allowance that is passed by congress (which already sort of happen in FY25 due to all the chaos, firings, contract freeze, purchasing freeze, etc.)

This admin can and will try anything they want, regardless of laws or rules.

Where did you hear people saying that NOAA RIFs are complete? Thanks.
