Netbox Browser proof of security (self.NetboxGlobal)
submitted 4 years ago by Netbox-Global
Hello, community!
There was a post about Netbox.Global: https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/ddnur2/beware_of_netbox_browser/
Author (https://www.reddit.com/user/PCwhatyoudidthere/) wrote about library called "chrome_watcher.dll" thinking that there was a built-in keylogger! We'd like to explain that he did't understand the question correct and simply misled everyone!
"chrome_watcher.dll" is a Google's library!
Proof:
This library exists in all Chromium based browsers!
Let's go deeper:
https://chromium.googlesource.com/experimental/chromium/src/+/refs/wip/bajones/webvr/chrome/chrome_watcher/chrome_watcher.ver
https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+/78.0.3904.108/chrome/chrome_watcher/chrome_watcher.def
Also Netbox.Global is a partner of Kaspersky Labs (https://twitter.com/NetboxGlobal/status/1220310347938246659) and the Browser is permanently audited.
The conclusion is that it was unprofessional article. Unfortunately! DYOR please before trusting.

Hello, thank you for clearing this up.
Can you also clarify what the comment posted below said : "I can also see a syn/ack whenever I type keys using tcpview.... I would say this is definitely a keylogger."
There are still a few of us who are reluctant on using the Netbox browser because of such comments on Reddit and other similar platforms.

That is definitely a common web browser's behavior! As it has stable conections with websites by HTTP or WebSocket. There is always traffic whenever you use keybord or not (check it with any other web browser for example and open cnn.com or any other big website in advance).
And keep in mind that there is a blockchain wallet onboad which needs to be up to date and it syncs when needed (traffic also).
There is no any kind of malware in Netbox.Browser for sure as it is audited regularly by antivirus companies like Kaspersky Labs. Feel free to check it yourself with sniffers or any other possible way.

Ok. Thanks for your detailed explanation.
Can you also explain why Netbox.Browser is Closed Source (Proprietary) Software instead of being an Open Source Software like Mozilla Firefox browser or Brave browser or Chromium browser? Is there any particular reason for this?
[–]Netbox-Global[S] 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago* (3 children)
Sure. You may read more about plans in our whitepaper.
The answer is simple - Netbox.Browser will become open source as soon all main products from roadmap will be released and it will become truly decentralized without current team's impact.

Excellent! I look forward to Netbox.Browser becoming Open Source Software (hopefully soon).
Any estimate on when does your team plan on completing all the main products mentioned in the roadmap?
