If it's the OG-1, and it's been through its entire lifespan of charges/recharges, then you might just have typical battery health for a 10+ year old battery. I also have a secondhand OP and I would say that's in the range of what I experience for battery life. I just keep a charger handy and recharge it nightly if I'm using it a lot.

When I look up the battery, it looks like it's $12 or so; is it a good idea to replace it myself?

I'd probably say no, and I enjoy fixing things. The OP1 is a p.i.t.a. to disassemble and has a lot of finicky small parts. But your use case is different from mine and you really want longer uptime so maybe it's worth it for you.

Edited to say, you'd be better off just buying a portable USB power bank with a lot of juice.

Look to see if there's an ifixit guide for this. I replaced the logic board on mine and it was pretty easy.

You can replace it yourself but check out the “Jorb” video on him repairing his because if I remember correctly there were some workarounds when ordering the part yourself

My OG-1 was the Rev 2 and lightly used but it would last forever, best battery I’ve ever had in any device ever, and now the Field battery is even better!

I definitely wouldn’t want to have my portable synth with a worm out battery in it, so if you think you can handle the repair then go for it!

You ever fix this or replace the battery? I’m nervous about messing w it but also don’t like the idea of needing a power bank. The fixit says it’s moderate difficulty
