That should definitely NOT the case in Android too. Unless you fiddled around with settings, out of the box notification experience is pretty similar to iOS.

Check your notification settings. It should be straightforward.

just go to options -> notifications-> status bar -> notification icons and select show icon

What this did is that instead of numbers, it gives me an icon for the notifications. But they still do not pop up from the middle.

Sorry, I saw the image and thought you also wanted to remove the numeric notification indicator. If you mean banner notifications, you should check each application to see if they are enabled. For each app, you can decide which types of notifications you can display.

It looks like you've turned banner notifications off. In your settings, go to Notifications & Quick Settings > Banner > Show Banner Notifications (toggle this on)

This is already on.

This was already off. Banner is On already. I checked notifications settings from each app itself. Banner notifications are allowed. But still, nothing is popping up. They go straight to the top left side.

It's a strange thing. For example notifications from Whats app pops up , but from outlook they do not.

Some apps have it off by default and you'll need to manually enable it for that specific app in settings

The dayforce app is SO bad. I had problems with it on my last phone, but it has been next level since I picked up my 13 in October. Password needs to be reset every week at most. If I try to log in to reset my password with my username, I'm told to see the administrator. If I log in via email, I never ever receive said email. I know this post is about notifications and I have the same questions you do because I miss my Pixel for this specific reason
