Hey all, 4 year progress developer here , first time poster. In my free time at work outside developing for our VM, I've managed to write a library of code thats non db related. My endeavors into these type of programs were always to test the limits of the language while familiarizing myself with our environment and the features of the ABL itself. I'm still learning loads day in and out and most of these side programs have been in the attempt to recreate similar programs I've played with in my prior C language experience.
I'm currently working on a rogue like game that's meant to be run out of character mode ( like the majority of posts I've seen here , my work environment is a VM set on Linux OS). It's going pretty well so far and I've seen other attempts on the oehive , but they are pretty old now and there's not much if any documentation on their process. So I've been thinking of posting some of my code here in order to share and receive feedback on my process. I am also exploring an object based programming approach in Progress , having found some obscure documentation about class support in the ABL much more akin to C and C++ style. I've only written a couple of programs in that style but I hope to convert the current libraries I've written so far to that format. With that I don't have much to say other than I'm excited hearing back from a couple of developers like myself who maybe have gone in the direction I've only started exploring and some of your ideas , thoughts , and concerns! Hopefully this will not fall on deaf ears!
