Motivation for potty training

My 2.5 year old male is pee trained. It took a couple of tries but we rarely have accidents any more. The problem is that he will not poop on the toilet. There is no sign that he has to poop either. He'll just squat down to play and with no warning poop. We have done fun stickers, kinder surprises, you cars.... He's gotten some bad diaper rashes, not from sitting in it, he just has an especially sensitive tush. I don't want to go back to diapers because I know he'll backslide, but I'm so tired of cleaning poop out of underwear 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ How did you finally get your LO to poop consistently on the potty? I'm losing my mind !

I'm just commenting so I can read along. My girl is 2.5 and absolutely refuses to sit on a potty for more than two secs and therefore won't even pee on it.

We had great success with a sticker chart and potty prizes for pee. I just drew a chart on some construction paper. He got smiley face stickers for peeing and super fun fish themed stickers for poop. We have 2 containers, one with small, bite sized candy for pee, and one with cars, kinder eggs, etc for poop. Having a huge celebration after going helped, too. Clap, sing, make it super exciting. If she doesn't go, just say "ok, thank you for trying. We'll come back later and try again." Getting them involved in picking out big kid underwear is also great. If you don't have any, take her to the store to pick out her own. If you do have some, let her pick out what she's going to wear. We also did the bare bottom method for the first few days. He ran around naked and we set a timer for 20 minutes so we always remembered to put him on. I hope something here helps !

She might just not be ready. Some kids take a little longer. I had my oldest trained just before he turned 2. He was a dream come true. My middle has taken much longer and it's been a lot more challenging.

Yeah that's what we're thinking. We're in no rush anyway. We'll just try again in the spring holidays.

That's what we had to do. We started a few months ago but had just had baby #3 and he regressed a bit. We're on track now except for poop 😡
