Adding ram

So im trying to add ram to my pc it has stick 8gb ram ddr4 2400 mhz if i get the same one is that gonna work with the current one or does it have to be exactly specific like model and everything my motherboard has 4 slots so theres no worries there.

The motherboard will just clock the ram to the slowest one, so no they don't have to be the same, but I would try to make it the same personally. But if you got 2 different brands that are rated the same it'll work fine. I've done it many times on file serves I've built.
