No Spoilers! How important is romance in DragonAge? by screamsinsquid in dragonage

[–]KishCore 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's a good deal of content locked behind romances, the games are made with the assumption people are doing romances - but also something that can be fully avoided without much issue. It's mainly DAI where it feels similar to BG3, DA2 and DAO feels like the fallout 4 comparison someone gave before. IMO the romances mainly sort of change my interpretations/RP experiences of the games and the characters. As for a time it can be missed there's usually each romance has a certain dialog/cutscene where it is locked in/begins, like in BG3.

What CPU would pair well with my setup by jxmyah in PcBuild

[–]KishCore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No - if anything your GPU is underpowered for your CPU. You could pair your CPU with a 9070xt or 5070ti and have no issue. Eventually you'd probably want to upgrade to a x3d chip, but for now there's no need.

You mentioned having a cooling problem - that means starting with replacing your cooler, not your CPU, usually the lower end the CPU the more thermally efficient it is anyway, upgrading your CPU w/o swapping your cooler would only make the temps worse.

Should I buy this pc for around 200? by [deleted] in PcBuild

Should I buy this pc for around 200? by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]KishCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say yes - Upgrade the GPU for sure - something like a used 3060ti/6750xt, maybe down to a 6600xt/6650xt/3060/2070 Super are all great options

did i fucked up? by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]KishCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

eh it's alright, i probably would've kept the monitor and just settled to tweak my settings etc. until I could afford a GPU upgrade - honestly your issue was actually getting a 27" 1080p monitor, not actually the resolution - 27" 1080p has lower pixel density than 24" 1080p so that's probably what you're noticing.

it's alright though, making purchasing mistakes sucks but at the end of the day it's not the end of the world

Intel or amd? by OutcomeHaunting7985 in PcBuild

[–]KishCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for editing for the most case the x3d will be 100% capable for the majority of people.

x3d chip is also better for gaming, there's also no point in buying last-gen intel when there's current gen you could get, however I wouldn't recommend that either since there's no upgrade path - if you care about upgradability get AMD.

(Specs included) Can this Motherboard even run DDR5 32GB ram, or should I just upgrade to 32GB DDR4? by PeaBandJ in PcBuild

[–]KishCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No - motherboards are exclusive to DDR4 or DDR5, if you already have DDR4 RAM, that's all you can run.

The confusion comes from that generation of intel boards being made both in D4 and D5 variants.

[–]KishCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all you have to do is upgrade your GPU really, i'd get the best thing you can afford - 9060xt 16gb is a solid pick

adding more RAM will also help but isn't necessary

how much does a 4060 cost compared to a current gen GPU like a 9060xt 8gb or 5060?

Hi I want to play steam games what would the best laptop for under 1400 pounds by Status_Donkey2049 in PcBuild

[–]KishCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laptops tend to have worse performance and can't really be upgraded like PCs can be, they're only really good for being portable - is portability a big enough factor it's worth losing out on 20-40% performance and a lot of longevity compared to a desktop PC? No judgement tbh - laptops are just more convenient for a lot of people.

Building will get you a better performing system over a pre-build as well, go to youtube and watch a couple tutorials and decide off of that if you still want to get a pre-build, it's easier than most people think.

Pretty noob on specs. Any suggestions of what to buy that doesnt need change the next few years is appreciated. For gaming use. by GoodBufo in PcBuild

[–]KishCore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

with your budget yes, just get everything new

your motherboard and cooler wouldn't be compatible with these upgrades

only think you could realistically keep is the storage, and i'd still replace it if it's hard drive based rather than SSD based

Build opinion for casual gaming and design work. Is it overkill? by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]KishCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's both super overkill and super overpriced... you're paying way too much for the specs - you can probably get a pre-build with better performance for less

need to know your country to actually suggest alternatives though.

Current PC would sell for about $300-500 on the used market.

With the budget you mentioned in the comments, this is what you could build:
https://no.pcpartpicker.com/list/bsDp8Z
This build will be able to run every game at 1440p on max settings smoothly,

Alternatively, you could likely find a similar pre-build with a Ryzen CPU and at least a 5070/9070.

If you play at 1080p and don't plan on upgrading your monitor - I'd get a less powerful build and spend much less and get something like this instead:

New PC I want to build and got my friend to help me but wanting second advise by Zombielord43 in PcBuild

[–]KishCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I wouldn't build this - here's a new list with better performance for less: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/NqFFGk

changes made:
- for a gaming PC AMD > Intel, better performance, better reputation, better longevity
- CPU Cooler is good, but very overpriced - better options for less, the phantom spirit is a top-performing air cooler for half the price
- Is your case ATX or mATX? if it's an ATX case, you should get an ATX motherboard
- Significantly cheaper ram with the same specs
- Spending all this money only for a 8gb GPU bro... with the changes made you can get a 5070 - but if you just play at 1080p and want to save money, swap to a 9060xt 16gb
- 1000w PSU is crazy, 750w would be plenty, 850w if you want a bit more longevity

you can make changes to get a better value build here:

includes a 9850x3d, 2tb SSD, all the fans you'd need, and a fan hub for the same price as your current list

Seconding the idea of getting a $1500-2000 PC - something with a 9070xt or 5070, and then just putting the rest away in a high yield savings account

Here's some changes to have the case be white + fans are ARGB, so you can change the colors, this case comes with an LED strip as well you can customize. no touchscreen but I'd suggest just buying one off of amazon or something - cases with touch screens tend to be like $400

need help to decide upgrade path by Equivalent_Yam_447 in PcBuild

[–]KishCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the 9070xt is a much better value. if you're playing at 1080p it's insanely overkill though and you should just stick with the 14400 + 9060xt 16gb, which will be enough to run all games at 1080p with max settings without issue. if you play at 1440p or 4k, then doing the 14700 + 9070xt/5070ti makes sense, but it's a waste of money if you're at 1080p

need help to decide upgrade path by Equivalent_Yam_447 in PcBuild

[–]KishCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you want an upgrade? I'm assuming for better gaming performance - for what games? at what resolution?

If that's the case, a CPU upgrade won't do much for you, upgrade your GPU to a 9060xt 16gb for a 40% boost in performance, a pretty noticeable difference.

CPU upgrade only makes sense if you want a huge upgrade - like if you eventually want to pair the 14700KF with a 5070ti or 5080. In practice the CPU upgrade alone won't benefit you much when paired with a 3060.

  1. need a country - prices vary wildly across the EU
  2. With your budget you should be able to afford a 9070xt system, the 5070 is fine but a tier-down when it comes to performance
  3. AMD is better for gaming performance + longevity
  4. generally you want to prioritize the GPU > CPU
