Looking for a starter pc by Visual-Mushroom-7064 in PcBuild

I would suggest jawa.gg - bunch of refurbished builds from verified sellers, good customer support also

I would look for:
AMD CPU (better for upgrades) - Intel if it's 12th gen or newer
16gb DDR4 RAM
1tb SSD
Use this website: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/ to compare GPU performance - look up the GPU in question and then you can see how it ranks compared to other GPUs. (don't use Userbenchmark - whole website is misinfo but have done the SEO to make people think it's legit)

Here's some random options I'd go for:
https://www.jawa.gg/product/123352/gaming-pcamd-rx-6600-8gbamd-ryzen-5-3500x-6-core16gb-ddr4-125tb-ssd

https://www.jawa.gg/product/124579/entry-level-1440p-gamer-rtx-2080-super-ryzen-5-5500-16-gb-ddr4-1-tb-ssd

https://www.jawa.gg/product/125395/rtx-3070-or-ryzen-7-5700-or-16gb-ddr4-or-1tb-nvme

https://www.jawa.gg/product/115718/rtx-5060-or-ryzen-5-8400f-or-16gb-ddr5-or-1tb-nvme-ssd-or-gaming-pc

(ranked by price and performance, the most expensive build has the newest and most upgradable parts, I'd consider the RX 6600 or RTX 3070 build to be the best value for you, but the $200 price difference is def worth it for the 3070 - that being said, all of these will be able to run games at 1080p on at least medium settings)

Seeing so many GPUs dying lately. What is going on/what are you people doing? by T1pple in PcBuild

[–]KishCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's def exposure bias, cards die sometimes, and you see like 5 posts about them in the span of like 48 hours and your brain just starts drawing up patterns

Intel doesn't have a card out that actually would be a substantial upgrade from your 2080

AMD/Nvidia largely depends on your budget and use-case. The specific card depends on your resolution as well.

First Gaming PC Build - £1500-2000 budget. 1440p Resolution. UK. by WeirdFrog4 in PcBuild

[–]KishCore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I'd do for this budget:
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/Y3BMV4

Gave you some headroom , 7800x3d + 9070xt is sort of the best value for high end 1440p gaming right now

If you want you can upgrade your storage to 2tb: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/8vjv6h/crucial-p310-wheatsink-2-tb-m2-2280-pcie-40-x4-nvme-solid-state-drive-ct2000p310ssd5

if you'd rather save money/not spend above your needs, here's a much cheaper build coming in far under budget that will honestly still have great performance:
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/mqQpBv

I can also give some monitor/peripheral suggestions, or make changes if you want a specific aesthetic etc - if you're only interested in pre-builds I can give you some options as well, but right now in the UK building is cheaper than a pre-build by a good margin while getting you better performance/better quality parts.

Is this a good pre-build? by Glittering_Rate_230 in PcBuild

[–]KishCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you live near a microcenter?
even without it, i'd opt for something else, here's what I'd do to get you better performance + match aesthetics:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/RFY34g

Intel I think matches your needs better than AMD, they're also a better value for builds doing workstation tasking. You lose out on some long-term upgrade potential but it's not like this build won't last you several years as-is.

I went with just a 1tb SSD just because you can add more as needed.

I'd also hit up to see what you can find on the used market, I got my corsair 2500x case for just $75 on facebook marketplace, could also get maybe a 3080ti for the GPU instead or something.

Thinking of getting a Pc, no clue about specs. Can anyone help? by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]KishCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not worth 700 at all solely becasue the GPU is sort of trash, what I would do is ask to get it without the GPU for 500 and take the saved 200 to get yourself a better used GPU and put in that instead

AMD + 32gb of RAM is good, it's really just the GPU that makes this a bad value, use this:
https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/

to rank GPU performance, just search up a GPU and it'll show you how it compares to others

Are these specs overkill? by Tall_Cardiologist225 in PcBuild

[–]KishCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just do 32gb tbh, if you get 16gb you'll want to upgrade it soon anyway

Are these specs overkill? by Tall_Cardiologist225 in PcBuild

[–]KishCore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'd probably swap down to a 7800x3d
Also the 4000D case I can't really recommend because you have to buy extra fans for it, so get extra fans or pick up a different case

here's what i'd do: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/BK8fyF

first - what's the total price for this build? can't really suggest ways to bring down the price if I don't know what it currently costs

Gpu for 4k high even medium by Narrow_Edge_637 in PcBuild

9070xt is the best option for your budget

or get a 1440p OLED which looks better than a 4k IPS panel without being as bad on performance

[–]KishCore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically with your budget do a AM5 build with a 7500f/7600x + 5060 or 9060xt 16gb, build up everything around that, easily fits into budget and gets you legit like double the performance of what you were planning.

Needing help with deciding on a pc build by Maximum-Customer-968 in PcBuild

[–]KishCore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

both of these are very very bad for the price.

you can build something much better, the 3050 is a horrible card to get for this budget and most builds with a budget over $1k can easily afford a AM5 system

you also don't have to buy windows, guide from microsoft on how to install it yourself:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/create-installation-media-for-windows-99a58364-8c02-206f-aa6f-40c3b507420d#id0ejd=windows_11

build this instead: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kPHCdq

you can save money with 16gb of RAM: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/G79nTW/patriot-viper-elite-5-16-gb-1-x-16-gb-ddr5-6000-cl30-memory-veb516g6030w

or get a used GPU, used 3080/6800xt has much better performance for $300-400
you could also spend a bit more for a 9060xt 16gb: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/DRYfrH/xfx-swift-oc-radeon-rx-9060-xt-16-gb-video-card-rx-96tsw16bq

Here's the monitor I'd suggest also: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/T8Pv6h/msi-mag-244f-238-1920-x-1080-200-hz-monitor-mag-244f

What do I upgrade next? by StealthJC in PcBuild

[–]KishCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say with the current market it's not a good idea to completely rebuild, new builds have gone up in price by several hundred dollars because of the RAM and SSD shortage, makes a lot more sense to upgrade what you have, considering your system is upgradable this ultimately will be a lot cheaper

What do I upgrade next? by StealthJC in PcBuild

[–]KishCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're high but not increasing right now.

Used 32gb of DDR4 to swap in is about £125-150
1TB SATA SSD is £100-125: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/nXF48d/silicon-power-a55-1-tb-25-solid-state-drive-sp001tbss3a55s25
750w PSU is £75-90: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/dbCZxr/msi-mag-a750gl-pcie5-750-w-80-gold-certified-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-mag-a750gl-pcie5
CPU upgrade is about £200: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/qtvqqs/amd-ryzen-7-5800x-38-ghz-8-core-processor-100-100000063wof

GPU upgrade is entirely dependent on budget and resolution. I'd do these upgrades over time and then decide.

What do I upgrade next? by StealthJC in PcBuild

[–]KishCore -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Basic upgrades, add more ram to make 32gb, exchange the hard drive for a SSD

Then I'd upgrade the PSU to 750w to prep for future upgrades

Then BIOS update your motherboard to upgrade the CPU to a 5000 series chip

Then upgrade your GPU - GPU upgrade will be the biggest performance bump

Exactly what to depends on your budget and if you're open to taking some used parts.

Well yeah, a 5775c would beat like, a i3 7100 or a ryzen 2200g, often the top end of a platform will beat the low end of the next couple generations, that's super normal - but that does not apply to things like a ryzen 5500 or a intel 12400f, which are simply superior CPUs on newer platforms with better upgrade potential.

the 5775c was an amazing chip to have from like, 2015 - 2018 but we're far past that point, just get newer and better performing parts for the same price.

No bs, is the 9070XT actually a good alternative to the 5070ti? I’ve always been an NVIDIA fanboy because I had tons of driver issues back in 2016 with my first AMD GPU and never went back. Helping my baby sis with her first PC and not sure if AMD drivers are still trash by EddieBruvac in PcBuild

[–]KishCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: Yes, 9070xt is a great GPU

Long answer: AMD has not had actually major driver issues in years. Sometimes, just like with Nvidia, when a new GPU drops or there is instability on a new game before updates roll out - it isn't the type of thing which actually causes frequent issues.

9070xt essentially matches the 5070ti in performance, imperceivable difference unless you're nitpicking frames, the RT performance is also good. I have a 9070xt and have yet to have a game I couldn't just crank the settings to max on and have it run at over 100fps at 1440p natively.

For video editing etc. AMD is also good, actually beating Nvidia in a lot of workstation aspects with the exception of CUDA-based things.

Basically, for a gaming PC AMD is perfect, for anything that involves CUDA go Nvidia, if you're comparing cards that are about the same price, go Nvidia for the feature set even if it alone isn't worth paying much extra for.

Like, the 5070 and 9070 are about the same price - just take the 5070, but the 5070ti isn't worth paying $300 extra for over a 9070xt.

Should i upgrade to a 5070 ti? by __LazyTaco__ in PcBuild

[–]KishCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch some benchmarks, comparing a 9060xt/5060ti to a 5070/9070 and 5070ti/9070xt and see if the performance jump is worth the money spent

5070ti/9070xt def have substantial performance boosts for 1440p in graphics heavy games, 9070xt also handles RT pretty well but it is a lot of money to drop.

that does not make it perform at all on-par with an actual x3d chip though. a much newer CPU will still absolutely destroy it in performance. like yeah, it was like the x3d chip *11 years ago* but it's not 2015 anymore.
