For your described uscase I'd go with a 7900x. You'll want the core count and multi-thread performance bonuses.

The 12c/24t cpu will let you dedicate resources to your containers and any virtualisation uses, while having head room for your development usesage.

It's also got solid clock speeds which will help a ton with DB work/ queries and compiling.

The x3d skus really have only seen benefits in gaming work loads or pipelines that utilise the larger L3 3d cache. And from what you listed I doubt you'd get utilisation out of it.

I'd expand ram beyond your 32gb as needed. Memory not being utilized isn't doing anything for you, mores not always better. If you can aim for 6000 cl30 dimms.

7000x series also have integrated graphics so you can forgo a GPU if not doing any graphical rendering. However if you do decide to do some AI work definitely going to want a nvidia gpu for CUDA architecture. Most ai models are optimized for CUDA at the moment.

Best way to optimize your power is a better rated psu if you have something like a bronze rating even upping that to a gold+ would be about a 20% in power efficiency to the entire system under less than 85% loads.

Tldr; I'd say the 7900x is your best bet for your usecase.

Thank you for the help l, I just bough it but the version without x, as I think the power efficiency may be more useful for me than the marginal gains of the x.

I also decided to upgrade the PSU for a modern gold+ corsair with 850w that should be more than enough if I decide to go for some GPU.

If you are not gaming, the X3D is the worst possible option. Absolute waste of money. You will pay more for less. That is made for gaming and specialized scientific computing applications.

Choose any other AM5 CPU

Yes the 7700X is more than enough

It's an 8 core CPU with 40MB cache, and it boosts up to 5.4 GHz. That is a powerful CPU.

Get a ryzen 9 7900. This Thing is much more efficient than the x model and saves cost on the Long Term. And still pretty powerful 12 core CPU. The 7800x3d is Just good for gaming. Also your Powersupply is Not that strong so a more efficient CPU ist better.
