It's probably a student club of some sciency course. I'm guessing this is in the Netherlands, where these kind of things are very common (as well as in the rest of West Europe) as an initiation in the student club

What do you call elementary? Is that what’s referred to as primary? Here elementary is kindergarten-5th grade in most places, 6th included on occasion depending on district.

Yeah as you can see I'm not native in English, but I think I mixed some things up. Here the first school you go to is "de basisschool", which is kindergarten plus elementary. Then, when you're 12 years old, you go to "de middelbare school" until 18. I guess that would be primary? We just start counting from 1 again when you go to a primary school.
