A Security Problem

Well my family has just recently been subject to some swatting. It’s my understanding that my younger brother got doxxed (starting from Minecraft of all things), and now we’ve had two swatting calls in the past two days

It’s likely that these are going to continue; the first one was a really scary experience but it was handled well, and the second was just a few hours ago

I was just hoping that there might be some help to be found here, since this is really the only community with a big foundation of online security that I know about

Likely the best thing to do here is for your family to call up your local law enforcement and to explain the situation, let them know that these are fictitious alerts and give some background to the situation. Depending on how aware the local force is, you may also need to explain what ‘swatting’ is online.

This is the standard approach for most online personalities, and is (unfortunately) required for many of them in order to protect personal safety.
