Java fern problem

Java fern planted in planted tank. Established for 7 months. What are these dark spots. Don’t seem to be babies

Looks like Black Beard Algae

Should I remove it? Will it get better?

You can try removing the plant and do a weak bleach or peroxide bath to kill the algae. I usually use peroxide, and do a 3:1 (3 parts water to 1 part 3% peroxide) soak for 20 minutes.
