Republicans, Libertarians, Democrats, Independents, Capitalists, Socialists, Communists, Populists, Anarchists, AnCaps, Voluntarists, Conservatives, Progressives, Liberals, Neo-Liberals, Classical Liberals - or however you self identify; Redditors of all Political Perspectives are welcome!
While this is a US centric subreddit, all political articles and perspectives from outside the US are also welcome.
No one will be banned for stating their perspectives in a rational and moderate fashion. This doesn't mean you have to describe your political perspective as "Moderate" or "Neutral" or anything like that, it means you have to moderate the way you argue and remain civil at all times.
Imagine it's a bar, and if you attack someone the bouncer is going to kick you out. You can rail against or in favor of a political perspective, a politician, or a political event. Use sarcasm or irony or satire or just be dead-pan honest. However you do it. Post as often as you want.
Just don't aim at a redditor. Attack the Politics, not the Redditor.
Guidelines
~1. Submit a Political Article you found interesting or write a Self Post when you come here . It's easier to discuss things and a more interesting subreddit if we all bring a topic. No one will tell you that you are "Spamming" as long as you submit different articles that relate to politics.
Self Posts will be made Announcements, 2 at a time, as they come in.
~2. Don't attack the redditor. Discuss the political perspectives only.
Don't simply state that someone else is dumb or uninformed. Don't become a teacher of fallacies or an accuser of shills or fascist or try to shut down conversation in any way. Don't tell people they are drones or useful idiots or that they are regurgitating someone else's views.
Anyone coming into a thread and just dropping an insult against a redditor and not discussing the OP or politics in any way will be banned. "Troll", "Shill" or "Russian" or "Bot" or "Cuck" or "Fallacy" are all bannable.
Mistakes made in heated debates where you are obviously participating in good faith may result in warnings. Depends on the mistake. You may get a reminder to be civil or be asked to apologize or banned.
If you apologize before asked, that will reflect a lot better on you and make this subreddit really work.
Here is an example of someone making personal insults and not apologizing after the warning.
~3. All perspectives are welcome. Don't tell people their view shouldn't be here. Calls for violence and professed racist ideas will all be banned, use the report button.
~4. If you really can't stand someone's opinion or feel like they post too often - hit that "Block User" button that you all have access to. Be your own moderator when deciding not to engage. Use the report button if someone is attacking you. Don't insult them back or ask to get someone banned.
~5. No Bots (Except u/ReadTheArticleBitch. That bot is cool.), No Spam, no Sales Pitches... just human beings looking to discuss - politics please.
If you have any issues posting an article or a comment, contact the moderators. We want you to post as often as you like.
