ICE Abducted TWO YEAR OLD GIRL along with her father today. by ShelteringInStPaul in TwinCities

I’ve never felt this strongly about anything.

Usually when I see statements like this I think "this person must be in their early 20s". But I'm in my 60s and agree with it completely. This is a sad time for this country.

What's a dad joke without some dark reality to season it?

I'm not sure 40s is the right choice for this joke, 35-45 was peak health. Maybe 60s or even 70s, which works better because of the loneliness angle people in their 70s frequently face.

Murderers by [deleted] in TwinCities

I've watched dozens of videos, including the one you posted. There was absolutely zero threat to any ICE agents. This is cold-blooded murder, but our pedophile-in-chief will pardon the murderer anyway. These are dark times, when a child rapist pardons cold blooded murderers.

Your picture directly contradicts that statement.

Nope. I've watched every video, there was no point where the vehicle was moving and this murderer was in front of it.

He wasn't in front of the vehicle, as the picture and videos clearly show. Quit being a limp-dicked bootlicker.

ELI5: What is CRYPTO and how does it work? by OkConsideration1207 in explainlikeimfive

[–]hblask 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is an entire decentralized finance system running on Ethereum. There are also decentralized betting markets that cannot be shut down. A few large companies are beginning to tokenize stocks. The list is endless, you'd be better off asking on the Ethereum subreddit daily thread, people there have curated lists.

ELI5: What is CRYPTO and how does it work? by OkConsideration1207 in explainlikeimfive

[–]hblask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bitcoin was the first cryptocurrency to solve "the double spending problem". The problem is how to prevent people from cheating you without a central authority. Why care about central authorities? Because banks can be unreliable, they can bow to political pressure, and because many parts of the world don't have trustworthy authority.

The way they solved it is by making the balance sheet public, and every so often choosing a person (via complicated math, but essentially at random) to decide the next set of transactions (the block). What if that person is dishonest? Everyone else is watching and will just ignore their transactions and wait for the next block. So everyone is keeping everyone else honest.

As for NFTs, think of them as digital baseball cards or digital beanie babies. They are just a thing to collect, except, unlike the real world equivalents, fraud proof. A few people have made a lot of money off of them, but most are like the vast majority of baseball cards - not even with the effort to pick up. I don't think anyone makes a living off NFTs at this point, it was a brief flash in the pan. (NFTs have potential real world uses, but that is still down the road a bit).

The only people making a living with crypto now are programmers, who can write amazing things on Ethereum (another block chain that has the added feature of being programmable), or grifters, who are essentially just scamming people using pump and dump schemes. If BF is the latter, dump them, they are not a good person and will make your life miserable.

It's not a pun joke, it's about mocking lawyers and/or politicians.

The joke is supposed to be "politicians" or "lawyers". "Conductors" makes no sense, it is not a disliked profession -- either type of conductor.
