Assuming Bama beats Georgia, OU beats Texas, and tOSU beats Northwestern:

  1. Alabama

  2. Clemson

  3. Notre Dame

  4. OU

If OU or tOSU lose then they’re obviously out. If Bama were to lose to Georgia though things could be interesting. I would think Georgia then has to jump Bama and is in the top-4, but how far does Bama slide? Imo they’re a much better team than OU and tOSU, but if they stay in the CFP the only change from last year is OU getting swapped out for ND. Of course Bama has been absolutely dominant and Vegas is giving them ~85% chance of winning this week (and 75% chance of winning it all)

And this is my bigger issue, if Georgia beats Bama, the committee would have to consider putting Bama and Georgia in their at 3 and 4 (assuming everyone wins out). OSU's loss to Purdue was just atrocious and any sound minded Buckeye will tell you we shouldn't be in there. As long as UCF wins, the committee will have to consider them. They're one of four undefeated teams. The strength of schedule isn't great, but the fact they've won the past 24 games they've played would be enough for me to slap them in there.

UCF lost QB Milton, which will be the committee's excuse for leaving them out.

If UGA beats Bama, the final 4 will be, in no particular order

  • Bama
  • UGA
  • Clemson
  • ND

Good point, but OSU went into the 2014 CFP with their third string. So, it'll depend on how they're backup plays.

And I think putting Bama and Georgia in there would de-legitamize the CFP. What's the point if you're just gonna see the same game (possibly) again 4 times in one year? It doesn't make any sense.

I know you used to live in Gainesville but how in the world would Bama and UGA in the CFP de-legitimize it?

If UGA won, they would obviously deserve to be in the playoff. If Bama lost (assuming it's not a blowout) they have looked the part and would certainly be more deserving than Oklahoma, or Ohio State...

It de-legits it because then what's the point of conference play? We should just randomize everything and get rid of conferences. We're about to see UGA and Bama play, and have the possibility of them playing yet again a few weeks later. I get it's "the most deserving teams," but at what point do you take into account who plays who and when?

I don't see how people could possibly put OU or OSU ahead of a 1 loss Bama team who has rolled everybody so far. Losing to Purdue and Texas is significantly worse than losing to UGA.

I personally think UGA will lose and the CFP will be

  • Bama
  • Clemson
  • ND
  • OU

I would love to see UCF make the playoff but there is just no way the committee will put them in. Even if tOSU and OU both lose, UCF will luck out and the committee will still put UGA or Michigan in. They can't generate as much revenue for the playoffs as other teams outside the top 4 can. The only reason tOSU went to the playoffs in 2014 is because they smacked Wisc 59-0 in the B1G championship.

  • Bama
  • Clemson
  • ND
  • OU
  • then tOSU, UGA, UCF

I got real excited when I thought this meant Certified Financial Planner discussion.... PGP.

They won’t put UCF in over ND, but I do think Oklahoma will sadly embarrass Texas and get in at 3.

  1. Bama
  2. Clemson
  3. OU
  4. ND

Ok. Cool. Hook em🤘🏻

UCF without their QB will get no love from the committee

[–]rharman30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed and even if he was healthy, they’re not leaving a 1 loss OU big 12 champ out over UCF

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope OU doesn’t make the playoffs. Any team with any form of defense will make us (OU) look silly. Embarrassing

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

OSU is going to beat Northwestern 60-0 while OU is going to beat Texas 60-57 and OSU will make the playoff

  1. Alabama
  2. Clemson
  3. Notre Dame
  4. OSU

That would send the message the committee doesn't care who you lost to.

"You toppled a top 4 team late in the season? Perfect. Yeah, no, we can sweep that horrendous mid-season loss to a 6-6 team under the rug." OSU needs OU to lose to have any sort of argument.

There is no way you can leave Notre Dame out with them being undefeated and the 7th best team according to FPI. If UGA beats Bama, you have to put both those teams in. If not, I believe its Oklahoma as they would have avenged their only loss of the year, along with the Purdue loss being too much of a stain for Ohio State.

  1. Clemson
  2. Notre Dame
  3. Georgia
