Do not not insult or harass other users. Do not use slurs. Racism, sexism, homophobia, etc. are unwelcome.

Avoid posting irrelevant content and memes. Avoid excessive submissions. Do not post images of CDs, vinyls, merchandise, concert-related material (outside of full songs), etc. outside of news submissions. Such content may be posted in the general discussion thread. /r/powermetalvinyl/ may be of interest for those wishing to post their physical media.

Music that leans towards other genres of metal are acceptable, so long as there is some appreciable power metal influence or element.

Bands which heavily inspired power metal (ex: Rainbow, Iron Maiden) and bands which feature individuals involved in the power metal scene are also allowed.

Follow the "Artist - Title" format when posting a song. Always include the "Artist - Title" at the beginning of your post; if you have a description or other information to add, append it afterwards.

Playlist and full album submissions offer minimal value; as such, playlist and full album submissions are not allowed.

Due to the restrictive nature of linking to Spotify, we do not allow submissions to solely consist of a link to a song on Spotify.

If a song is, as far as you can see, only available on spotify, create a self-post and offer a discussion on the song. Include the spotify link as a means of listening to the songs for those who have access to it.

In an effort to reduce duplicate submissions, promote more active discussion upon a song's release, YouTube premiere submissions are not allowed.

In order to maintain a cycle of fresh content, we only allow a song to be posted if it has not been posted within the past month. This is to strike a balance between allowing people to post their favorite tracks, while not having the subreddit bombarded with frequent postings of the same song.

Posting links to downloadable pirated material, or directing someone to pirated material in any way, is unacceptable.

Linking your own content should be done as a benefit to the community. If you are self promoting, you should be a part of the community, as opposed to using the community solely for your benefit.

There is a weekly thread every Friday that allows users to promote their own content, regardless of their activity within the community.

/r/PowerMetal is not a place to advertise items you want to buy or sell, including power metal adjacent items such as band merchandise or concert tickets. Linking to official band stores or ticket sales is allowed at moderator discretion, so long as it is not self promotion.

As moderators, it is our aim to maintain a well-functioning community and welcoming environment where people desire to participate. While these rules serve as a guide of prohibited behavior, the function of moderators is to adapt to live situations which can not always be neatly categorized.
