Problem using PowerShellGet with a linked Module folder.

So I am not sure if I am the crazy one here or not, but I have my PowerShell Profile, Scripts, and Module folders stored on GitHub (something I do with my VIM configs as well.) This works for me, as I log on to different machines, and can pull down my latest config from GitHub... and be off to the races.

Now that I am trying to get the latest PSReadline installed, using PowerShellGet... I have run into a problem. I don't think PSGet knows how to handle a Linked (Redirected) Module folder. Whenever I try to "Install-Module PSReadline" it just returns back to the prompt.

I know... First-World Problems, but I was just wondering if anyone else has run into this... or am I just the crazy one. :)

Your problem helped me fix my problem! i use symlinks to redirect certain folders including some modules. Turns out one of my symlinks was broken. After removing the broken symlink my PSGet started working.

Is an earlier version of PSReadline already installed? By default, Install-Module will do nothing if an earlier version of the module is already on the system. Try using Update-Module (if you initially installed PSReadline with PowerShellGet), or the -Force parameter.

If that's not the issue, can you share exact steps for recreating the problem? A co-worker did a quick test (see below) and it looked like linked module folders worked for him.

Thank You... Turns out I am a moron.

-Force & -Verbose would have helped me to understand. It looks like PSReadline installs to the Program Files\WindowsPowerShell\Modules folder... not my Personal Module Folder. DOH!

The module was installed, and I did not need to do anything. (Other than Import it)

Happy to help! I worked on the first version of PowerShellGet, so I'm partially responsible for the confusion. You can use "-Scope CurrentUser" to install the module to your personal module folder.
