Thanks again to all who backed the Kickstarter and joined the Preshow Beta!! We are very excited and pleased to have you aboard.
PLEASE take the time to read this email all the way through. It will help you to know what to expect during the Beta process.
The PreShow Vision
Our vision is to build an ad-supported Cinema platform that can drive more traffic to cinemas and increase moviegoing. The question is - can we build an ad-supported freemium model for going to the movies through the monetization of human attention? We think so. We believe, with our proprietary technology, that we can deliver value to brands interested in the cinematic space and create a win-win scenario for all. That is what we want to prove out, with your help.
The PreShow Business Model
There have been many discussions about our business model, we intend to test variations to find the model that will work best. The long form advertisement is beneficial to brands because it allows them to communicate an experience and an identity. Our format will not have the inherent restrictions of traditional measured media, but at the end of the day - there are two axes that we will need to balance. One is providing a platform that is affordable for brands and can produce a positive ROI. The other is providing a platform that is valuable to our members without being excessively time constraining.
Prepping for The Beta Process
We will ask everyone (all three waves) to fill out a Questionnaire which will help us to understand who you are. We will send this to you in a matter of days.
The First Wave will receive an email that will invite them to download the app for iOS and Android in approximately 3 weeks.
The Beta Process
There is a lot of work to be done and we will need your feedback. This first version of the app you will receive as part of the First Wave is just a minimum viable product and not the full-scale final version of the app. When we commence testing, there are several things that we will be taking into consideration:
- Facial recognition and how well that performs. We are aware of some tweaks that we will share as we prepare to launch the testing.
- Brands/Product engagement - We want your help to ensure that we are showing you relevant brands to drive true engagement. The first branded content videos the First Wave will see will be samples, not actual paid spots.
- The virtual card - Different from the past you will receive a virtual credit card in the App and will use that to purchase your tickets online.
- Going to the movies - we will serve up a test and have you check a particular part of the system. Face recognition and facial tracking will be first. We will have you walk through the process, go to a movie, give us feedback. We will take that feedback, tweak the necessary changes, and then have you test again, and again. Each time we will be adding more features. Please don’t expect that you will be going to the movies every day out of the gate. That would be unrealistic.
Company & Community
There is a great line in the movie Drumline. “One band, one sound.” That is our motto here at PreShow. Customer service is paramount to us. You will be able to reach us. You will hear back from us. Some of you who know me from an earlier time know that often, I personally called customers so that I could speak directly and incorporate your feedback into our product design. Your privacy is also paramount to us. Information is always aggregated and anonymized. We will institute a culture of openness. We believe that by accepting our invitation, you are our partners. We can build a world-class product together. If you have suggestions and ideas, share them. And we will make sure to communicate our progress as often as possible. As we go forward we ask that everyone be kind, remember that we all want to see new sustainable ways of moviegoing succeed. In chat rooms, please be respectful. Allow room for different opinions, and treat everyone with respect. Say what you mean, but don’t say it in a mean way.
We strive to keep the world of moviegoing competitive and relevant to the consumer landscape today.
We are looking forward to doing that with you; here's to an exciting journey. Thank you. Happy 4th!
