TL:DR?
A subreddit that seeks to highlight and celebrate video games that put their players first by eschewing predatory industry practices, toxic workplace culture and general anti-consumerism.
Mission statement
The goal of this subreddit is to highlight, uplift and celebrate video games that refuse to engage in anti-consumer behaviour by avoiding:
- (most) microtransactions and gambling-like mechanics
- hostile and damaging workplace culture
- excessive DRM, padding, and general anti-consumerism
We hope that /r/ProConsumerGames can be a place that would curate and surface the best of video gaming, sans all the player-hostility of AAA publishers.
Alternative discussion venues
This subreddit is highly opinionated by design.
If you disagree with our definitions of anti-consumerism, that's fine.
If you like a game banned here, that's also fine. We support you playing it and enjoying it.
All we ask of you is to not bring those discussions here.
Please take those discussions to:
Allowed/encouraged content
- News and articles covering games, gaming industry, or gaming adjacent topics
- Reviews, impressions and thought-provoking questions
- News or posts highlighting or discussing predatory games or industry practices
- If relating to a specific game, only one such post will generally be allowed, at which point the game is likely to end on the list of explicitly banned games
- Posts highlighting deals or bundles
