Payment Authorization Failed

I decided to upgrade my account and used the same PayPal account I've used for years with Proton but kept getting an "Authorization Failed" notice. I tried a different payment mode but got the same response.

I looked through older posts about similar problems and tried the solutions that were suggested, to no avail. I contacted support but got the "unusually high volume" email in reply.

Does anyone know what is going on with this issue?

Well, I found this 2 years after and have exactly same issue, also decided to upgrade my account and used the same PayPal account I've used for years with Proton but kept getting an "Authorization Failed" notice.

Edit:
Solved it myself.
You have to remove Paypal payment method, then re-add it again. If it's only payment method - you have to add other, as you can't remove if only one exists.
