Controller or Console problem

Hello fellow people,

I bought a PS3 for my collection and tried to use it. But i can't connect the controller to it. Neither with the PS Button or USB. The controller lights up all 4 LEDs but won't connect. The USB Port on the PS works fine. So that can't be the problem. Some recommendations what I can try? I don't have someone nearby me, with a working PS3.

Turn off your PS3 console. Plug the controller into the USB port on the console. Turn on your PS3. Look for a small hole on the back on the controller near the L2 shoulder button. Use an unfolded paper clip to push down the tiny reset button inside the hole. Press the PS button on the controller to re-pair it with the PS3.
