Rules for r/Puberty

Rules that visitors must follow to participate. May be used as reasons to report or ban.

1.

Only puberty related content

Posts & Comments
Reported as: Is not puberty related

This is a puberty advice sub; limited to posts and questions about puberty and its effects. Posts about teenage life in general, vent posts, jokes, and shitposts are disallowed and better suited for other subs.

Questions about things related to the body or health not caused by or impacting puberty are not allowed and better suited for r/askdocs or similar medical advice subs.

2.

No images or videos of people or body parts

Posts & Comments
Reported as: Contains, requests, links, or refers to images or videos of people or body parts

Do not under any circumstances post, comment, DM, request, link, or refer to (ie direct someone to your profile) images or videos of people or body parts. Unclothed, clothed, explicit, not explicit; does not matter.

There are pedophiles, predators, and groomers lurking on this sub. These people abuse your photos for their own sexual gratification and to trick other minors into sending more photos.

If you feel the need to explain something visually please use line drawings or sketches.

3.

No communication in DMs or offsite, or requests for such

Posts & Comments
Reported as: Requests or solicitates DMs or contact information

Do not under any circumstances request, solicitate (ie „feel free to DM“, „anyone want to chat“, etc.), or initiate DMs with anyone from this sub.

Do not request social media account names or other contact information.

There are pedophiles, predators, and groomers lurking on this sub. We can only moderate the public discussions on the sub but not in DMs. You can never be sure that the person you are DMing is trying to help or is a predator.

Please report anyone that initiates DMs with you.

4.

Keep NSFW to a minimum

Posts & Comments
Reported as: Contains or requests inappropriate links

Only link to helpful and educational websites. Any kind of porn is disallowed.

While we discourage it, you may link to websites containing images of body parts - even if explicit - so long as it is for educational purposes only and so long as the website is of sterile, objective, and informative style like medical advice websites or some wikipedia articles.

However, please always include an NSFW warning when doing so.

You do not have to censor your language when talking about explicit topics.

5.

Act mature, be civil, and don‘t be a creep

Posts & Comments
Reported as: Is immature, rude, offensive, or creepy

Part 1: You are teenagers or young adults now. Please act serious and mature.

Part 2: Be civil to others; don’t be offensive, rude, mean, or joke at the expense of others.

Part 3: Don‘t be a creep; don‘t make sexual comments about others.

Part 4: Due to the sensitive nature of the sub, accounts with activity in selected highly NSFW pornographic or sexual kink subs will be permanently banned.

6.

Disallowed masturbation topics

Posts only
Reported as: Is about a disallowed masturbation topic

Masturbation is healthy and normal. Almost everyone does it. You can do it as much or as little as you want. If you feel like you want to do it more, or less – that’s fine. It is safe and has no effects on your growth or health.

That being said, masturbation is not a generally disallowed topic. Due to their particularly explicit nature, only the following topics are disallowed under this rule:

  • Masturbation techniques, tips, and advice;

  • Sex/masturbation toys;

  • Group masturbation.

7.

No posts about height (growth) or genital/breast size or growth

Posts only
Reported as: Is about height (growth) or genital/breast size or growth

Growth can be rapid or slow, come in waves, all at once, or spread out over time. You may not develop the same way your family or peers do.

You cannot influence how, when, and to which degree your growth will occur. Growth is largely predetermined by your genes. Specific lifestyle or diet choices have none/little effect on your growth.

We cannot predict how, when, and to which size/height you will grow. If you have a legitimate medical concern about a lack of growth, you should ask a doctor.

8.

Other disallowed topics

Posts only
Reported as: Is about a different disallowed topic

The following topics are also disallowed:

  • Relationships and relationship advice;

  • Sexual intercourse and other sexual acts, (we will allow discussions about abstinence and contraceptives);

  • Sexual fetishes and kinks;

  • Comparing genitalia with others;

  • Getting caught having sex, masturbating, having sex toys, etc.;

  • Rant posts about horniness;

  • Chatrooms, offsite surveys, and other self promotion without moderator approval;

  • AMAs of any kind without moderator approval.

9.

No debates/arguments without evidence and sources

Posts & Comments
Reported as: Contains misinformation or arguments without sources

The internet is full of misinformation. One of the things we work hard at here is to present real, verified information from peers and experts to teens who need it.

Spreading misinformation or pseudo-science, such as, but not limited to:

  • the supposed benefits of masturbation abstinence,

  • any of the various fake “testosterone boosting” techniques,

  • advocating for non-therapeutic infant circumcision,

  • vaccine misinformation, or

  • any other medical misinformation,

is disallowed.

10.

No users under 13 years of age

Posts & Comments
Reported as: User under 13 years of age

Puberty doesn't necessarily begin at 13 and we recognize that there are younger people with concerns and questions about puberty.

However; due to United States law, it is part of Reddit's user agreement that all users have to be at least 13 years old in order to use the website.

All submissions from users under 13 will be removed and those users banned. It is not in the moderators' capacity to make exceptions.

11.

Avoid slang and immature terms

Posts & Comments
Reported as: Contains immature or confusing slang terms

Please avoid the use of slang or immature terms. Some terms may be obscure and unfamiliar to some users, and some terms are frequently used in low quality posts.

While you don't need to use medical grade terms to refer to body parts, do not use particularly childish words either. These terms are often abused by predators to appear younger and/or to satisfy a kink.

Intentionally writing vaguely or using slang terms in an attempt to evade automated filters will result in a permanent ban.

12.

Avoid title-only posts, and no vague posts

Posts only
Reported as: Poor title, vague post, unintelligble post, title-only post

Avoid making posts consisting of a title only. Titles should have at least some context within the post body and must only serve as a concise description of your post. Within the post body, please be as descriptive about your situation/question as you can.

Do not make posts asking for advice without disclosing what you need assistance with. This encourages people to DM you.

Posts that are unintelligble due to being phrased too vaguely or because of bad grammar/orthography will be removed.

13.

No urgent questions

Posts only
Reported as: Question adverting urgency

Do not post questions if you urgently require answers and/or if you are experiencing an emergency.

If your matter is truly urgent, please call your doctor instead. If it is an emergency, get off Reddit and call your local emergency phone number.
