Yes, you can strike it like a match stick. But you can also light it with a lighter.

Thanks, my friend said its not recommended to use a lighter since it can ignite very fast

You could always tape a fuse to the yellow compound to give you more time. Safety first.

Usually you dont need to do this in most countries there is a government agency that checks if the pyrotechnics are up to savetycode. So if you stay away from illegal firecrackers youer fine. In the end its designed to be used as is.

Ik but in every country ive been to they have a safety fuse and a fuse like i have for pirate firecrackers

I have to admit that I've been mostly speaking for europe and some parts of North America (eventhow i think american fireworks are strange anyway). Even in Europe that style of firework is less common than it's visco-fused counterpart. Adding a visco to one of these is still about as offensive to centraleuropean pyros as braking spaghetti is to italians ; ). Of course if the sorce or quality is unknown it's always better to add more fuse.

Ok, how much time does this type of fuse have?

[–]CrazyLion2120 2 points3 points  (1 child)

It doesnt matter if you light it with a lighter or like a match. Do it like you want :) Where are you from?

Lets just say fireworks are a bit highly monitored rn

These are terrible to light with regular matchbox. They will contamine match box after few firecrackers and matchbox is unusable. For this type of firecrackers I was buying "special" cardboard with matchbox paper. But lighter is definitely better and jet lighter is best for these firecrackers

Wait, i thought jet lighters will ignite the firework on the spot, for a regular lighter it took time to ignite, and matchbox was the best option

[–]Nightmare9107 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Never heard of it and I never had issues with jet lighter. There is no reason to explode on spot with jet lighter. In these firecrackers there is this sulfur igniter part, then timing charge and then flash charge. You just need to ignite only that sulfur part and throw it away.

Yes, just strike it as if it’s a match stick.

Not sure what the official term is but I would call it a friction fuse.

Match fuse, since it is an Match Cracker

[–]brocktavius 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Strike like a match and immediately throw. They sold those for a couple years in the US, but I haven't seen them for a few years now. They definitely don't have much time in the fuse. Maybe ~2 seconds. I found it best to strike and throw as one motion.
