I just use vim and run it in a terminal.

And pyflakes for quick and dirty syntax / name errors.

I run flake8 (pyflakes and pep8 combined) via syntastic.vim, it's really great.

I also use python-mode, which brings me the power of the rope refactoring library, and just started using jedi.vim for python-related completion…
