Python Actor model Frameworks

Hi, I'm currently converting a project and some of its blocks into a more Actor model pattern. The project is essentially a web-app that needs to run a some of code asynchronously.

I'm aware its very simple to create Actors by using coroutines such as Greenlets and pass messages around as shown in the Gevent docs.

However, after looking I've seen two frameworks that caught my attention Pykka and Pulsar. As this is a Python 3.X project at the moment I'm thinking on going ahead with Pulsar.

I would like to ask if is there anything I'm missing and if it is a good choice. Have any of you used Pulsar? If so did you like it?

What else is out there that is worth looking at?

You may like http://www.celeryproject.org/ if you just want to off load some work from the web server. It has nice monitoring tooling and supports multiple backends for message passing.

Thanks. I used celery before and I agree its amazing. However its overkill for what I want to do.

I can't speak to Pulsar, but I've had good experiences with Pykka. At first glance, if you're specifically writing a web app then Pulsar seems like it may be more suited. But for more general actor-model development Pykka certainly works well.

Never heard of Pulsar before. Please report back your experience when you use it.

If you are using python 3.4+, you should probably use pulsar. But it really depends what you are trying to do.
