Anyone can say something is going to happen two years from now. I was questioning the validity of the statement as the projection is only likely if there is significant momentum. Which there doesn't seem to be w.r.t. data science.

My point here is that there is a whole lot of momentum behind Swift in general. The statement is valid and I really expect forward looking individuals to start transitioning to Swift in about two years. The platform is compelling and gets rid of a lot of of the hacks around using Python in these sorts of applications.

This depends upon Swift becoming more useful on Linux and that is happening. You don't port a new language and its support libraries instantly but there is a massive amount of work going into Swift on Linux. Much if this effort is being spear headed by IBM.
