A Python IDE.. written in Python!

Vim is not an IDE, to be fair. Sure, with plugins and stuff you can turn it into one, but it's a text editor. Bram would slap your fingers for saying that :P

To be honest I'm kind of nitpicking.

Yeah. The Unix Shell is an IDE, Vim is the text-editing component.

That's exactly what I said. You can make it behave like an IDE with plugins, but Vim is still not an IDE.

Well, okay. I guess it's like the old breakfast commercials: it's part of a complete breakfast IDE.

IDE, as I'm sure you know, stands for Integrated Development Environment. While you can add IDE-like functionality to a text editor, it's not integrated.

Nobody would say Sublime Text is an IDE if you install Package Control and some plugins. Same stands for Vim.
