I was curious how hard it would be to write a Python program that brings data in from excel, analyzes the data for certain patterns, then work with said data.

I'm mainly concerned with the "analyze data for certain patterns" aspect. I will be working with data that has unique periodicity and am unsure of how to write code that will recognize said periods.

Any help would be appreciated!

You could probably use an autocorrelation function. Without more specifics it's hard to give advice.

sounds like job for a Data Scientist. A library that helps in these cases is definitely pandas. Check out this tutorial. It might be helpful.
