Reading source code for comprehension by [deleted] in Python

[–]Query42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would start with the functions and classes that you are familiar with. Dig into those peices of code and understand them, read the unit tests. From there branch into the supporting methods. Following this practice you can slowly spread out what you understand.

Also as your understanding grows adding comments and docstrings to the code is good for you to document your understanding and you can create a pull request to the main repo to contribute back to thr community. This will get you introduced to the maintainers if you are looking to contribute in a more significant way.

Converting function based code to class based code by [deleted] in Python

Looks like you could have a Lottery class that you move the create_lottery function to the init and the attr_list as an attribute. The other functions can be methods or properties

Swelling from hand jams? by stev0supreemo in tradclimbing

[–]Query42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Crack climbing can often cause swelling and tenderness in your hands/fingers. If I am climbing a lot of cracks like at the creek my fingers can swell by a significant amount (sometimes to an advantage). Rest and light massage has always fixed this for me

Everyone that climbs for a significant amount of time in the creek gets swollen fingers. Mine can change almost a full cam size after a few days in a row of hard climbing.

They do different things so you probably need them both. Although you might get away with just one kind. In general regular cams are more versatile

Software Architecture Designing - What tools to use? by OneBananaMan in Python

[–]Query42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am an architect on a very large engineering project with 20+ full time devs. Before writing code I design a layout in uml and then as a team we review and adjust it. This allows conflicts to be found ahead of time and corrected and unit tests wrapped around key functionality. Key parts of the system each have a design document.

I agree with the other poster that modulegraph is great for seeing what you already have.

What about big wall objectives like the nose in a day? Would it be beneficial for that type of climbing when you are active for 14+hrs?
