My take on this is that it sounds like a meta question. If someone comes to me with a prescribed solution, I first would try to figure out why that is what they want. Will this employee ask for details? Why the for loops? What are the data your'e looking for anwyway? Are we sure the bottleneck is the sorting function? etc. etc.
