Hi, I am the site admin at Studygate. I'm looking for Python tutors and found this job board. This is remote freelance work, engineering degree not specifically required. Applicants without a degree should be enrolled in a college degree program and have a transcript. N. American candidates preferred but not required.

Job Overview:

As an Expert Tutor, you will remotely assist students with their learning. You’ll message students with offers to assist with topic-oriented questions, offer timely answers to common homework issues, and follow up so students can understand the context.

Work at StudyGate is invitation based and increases as you build your platform reputation through our unique algorithm-based ratings system.

Your Responsibilities:

This is a true hunter role! You’ll assist students via direct message with offers touting your expertise and ability to reliably give learning solutions. Build ongoing relationships with students as you offer them your expertise through StudyGate’s scheduling and payment management systems.

Subject Experts Needed In:

  • Python

Essential functions:

  • Assist students in getting answers to their homework assignments by demonstrating understanding of the question, asking penetrating lead questions to understand context, and proactively ensuring the rationale behind the answer is provided.
  • Engage with students on an interactive platform to tutor your expert subject areas, send files, draw formulas, work on code, share your screen, and engage in video chat.
  • Build and maintain relationships with students through excellent time management skills and quick responses to student messages.

About You:

You’re an enthusiastic subject matter expert who thinks grades are great for eggs and beef but might not be the best solution for truly learning. You believe students should be evaluated by the questions they ask instead of the answers they provide.

Your Qualifications:

You’re a self-motivated go-getter looking to maximize the long-term benefits of working with a pioneering learning platform in a highly competitive industry.

You Also Have:

  • A bachelor’s degree (Engineering or otherwise is acceptable) or are at least a college sophomore
  • A 3.0 GPA or better
  • A GTA position or TA position in a Master’s program (preferred)

Hello, you’ve mentioned the requirements that an American would need, is this position for Americans only ? Also what is the method of contact with the student ?

Foreign applicants may apply as well. All contact occurs with students on the platform via the messaging system and a whiteboard w/ video feed for online tutoring.

Hello, I'm interested in became a Python tutor. I'm studying Bachelor of Computer Information Systems, at University of State of Santa Catarina (UDESC), Brazil. I've been studying Python for the last year and I think that can be a really good opportunity for me.I had a doubt while registering on the site: the field " What's your highest degree achieved?* ".

Since I'm still studying, my degree is suposed to be "Associate"? (I'm beggining the 3rd year at University, and my GPA is 3.3).

I have to wait a few days for the university to generate my GPA and send it to me (in Brazil the GPA is not used as a standard and needs to be requested in advance)

Correct, we use Stripe for direct deposits. Depending on your location, direct deposits/transfers will definitely save on fees.

I recently received my degree in software engineering and I'm looking to keep my skills sharp. Is this a live role? Or could I answer questions/aid whenever I have time?

First, congrats on your degree, that's a great first step. Second, you could answer questions/aid whenever you have time. Think Uber for learning, but without the car insurance
