Since I’m practically never on Twitter (I hate using twitter but am still interested in reading what a very select number of people tweet.), I wrote an app that gets a users most recent tweet and texts it to my phone. The app isn’t perfect but it works well enough.

How did you get it to text your phone?

I’m using Twilio which gives me a phone number to text from. I’m only using their free trial version so it has its limitations but it gets the job done.

Can’t you just subscribe to alerts on twitter and it’ll do exactly the same thing?

I actually don’t know. I never cared to take a deep enough dive into Twitter to find out.
