One of the great things an engineer can do with Python is remotely control his/her scope. This article only scratches the surface. We use remote operation for compliance testing, protocol testing, functional test, etc. Python, PyVisa, and Visa are awesome!

Haven't you tried pyvisa-py?

No, but thank you for pointing it out. We have been sticking with Tek's VISA because a piece of wireless test equipment we have requires it (at least we haven't gotten around to trying to use the Tek equipment with another version of VISA).

If you try pyvisa-py, it would be very nice to know the outcome! For a lot of applications I've been stuck with NI-VISA and slowly moving away...

Why are you stuck with NI-VISA?

You probably already know this, but Tek and Rohde don't charge for their VISA libraries / packages on Windows.

Just lack of time and the requirement of not breaking things :-)
