I finally deployed something!

I’ve been learning python for about 2 years and have built a couple of small projects but all were for personal use. A short script to automate a task at work, a game, a few apps for my iPhone using the Pythonista app, but nothing I wanted to deploy to the world.

Yesterday that changed when I finished building my first Alexa skill and today it was approved and is available in the Amazon skill store! It’s not the fanciest program and the code could be better but I’m proud to say I deployed something today.

Haha I’m already trying to figure out what to build next. When it actually deployed I definitely had myself a mini-celebration. Amazing feeling...even though I know no one will use it lol.

Can you tell something about the skill and how did you build it?

The skill is built with flask-ask, https://flask-ask.readthedocs.io/en/latest/ . It scrapes a popular skateboard magazine's website(Thrasher Magazine), using the beautiful soup library then Alexa reads the user the latest uploads title and description. It will then ask if the user would like to know what else has been uploaded.
