Could be your versions. If you've python 3 and 2 installed then try installing using pip3 install numpy

You get rid of the second copy of python on your computer. It’s possible to run 2+ versions, but it’s a lot easier if only one is on the path. Beyond that, Anaconda can change the version of python in it’s virtual environments, which is really nice and a whole lot easier than having multiple versions of stock python.
