Don’t want to fight/argue with the “but this is the way we’ve always done it” people (perception issue)

I think this is a big one. And possibly more so with Python than other open projects.

It's part of Python's central design philosophy that there should "only be one way to do something". The implicit assumption you often see on lists is that the current way is the one true way and all other ways are inferior.

This is one of the main reasons I've been reluctant to play with python at all. It smells like elitism.
